What time is it?

edge
How often do we check our watch, clock or phone to see what time it is? Time is a measurement created by God for us and when we walk in His timing we understand more fully the purpose of the days, months and years of our life. The Word tells us in Ecclesiastes 3 that there is a time for everything. This is a set of scripture that most people recognize, but if we don’t understand what the season means then we can just float through life letting circumstances determine our course.

Last month, while overseas on a trip with my husband, we went on a 5 hour train ride that took us from one end of a country to the other. It was simply beautiful! Mile after mile of golden wheat fields rolled past our window. In each field we passed by the farmers were baling the wheat into large round bails. It was as if they all woke up that morning and said “TODAY is the day of harvest” or it was written in bold letters on their calendar “Harvest Day”, because each field was being harvested.

There was a stirring in my spirit as I watched this unfold and Holy Spirit began to talk to me. The thought of Harvest was stirring IN me and I was not sure why until I began to do some reading and listening to Holy Spirit. What I didn’t know as that this next Hebrew year (allow me to take a side track: I understand our Gregorian calendar, but spiritually I try to know what the Hebrew calendar is since God set that up, so that I will fully understand what happens during that year or month of the year. Because in the Hebrew language each number and letter has a depth of meaning and its as if God is speaking to us about what to expect with each season. When I began to pay attention to this way of thinking, I have prospered in my walk with God. I encourage you to look into this.) is 5779 and has many meanings, but it is about Harvest and New Wine. No wonder I was so stirred up in my spirit. But right now we are still in the Hebrew year 5778. Even though Harvest is just around the corner, Holy Spirit had shown me that each of those farmers in the wheat fields were prepared for harvest. They had made sure their equipment was ready ~ fine tuning it, checking each and every instrument, re-greasing it, and whatever else they do to make it ready. They also made sure their hearts were ready for the work {same thing as the instruments, just different Happy } And lastly, they had to get out of their house and GO to the field. They were each prepared!

So what is Holy Spirit saying about this last month (Elul) before the Hebrew new year? He is telling me to prepare myself: 1. Do a thorough examination of my heart. 2. Prepare myself to leave behind some things in this season that don’t need to be taken into the next. 3. Rejoice in the fact that He will walk with me through each step. 4. Get ready to GO!

Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest. Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this case the saying is true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.” John 4:35-38
